Toll Group and Asahi Beverages have expanded their long-term partnership by launching a new electric heavy vehicle program in Western Australia.

The initiative represents the largest route-to-market electric vehicle fleet in a single Australian location for beverage distribution.

The fleet operates from Asahi’s Forrestfield distribution centre and is expected to complete over 36,000 annual deliveries of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Featuring a 12-pallet tautliner body, each truck has a driving range of approximately 270km on a single charge. These vehicles are expected to transport more than 10 million litres of beverages each year.

To support the fleet, three dual-port 60 kW DC charging stations have been installed at the distribution site.

The project is part of Toll’s $67 million investment in electric heavy vehicles and infrastructure, which received co-funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency.

“This milestone builds on our longstanding partnership with Asahi and represents the next step in our shared decarbonisation journey,” said Nick Vrckovski, president, retail and consumer at Toll Group.

“Thanks to our partnership with Toll, these electric trucks will safely deliver our beer just like a regular diesel truck,” said Amanda Sellers, CEO at Asahi Beverages. “This investment makes commercial sense for our business and is a big step towards creating sustainable and reliable supply chains with our customers and partners.”
