Packaging provider BioPak has partnered with Australian ice-cream brand Everest to transition the dairy brand’s packaging from plastic to paper-based solutions.

The rollout, which begins this month, focuses on delivering more sustainable formats across Everest’s national distribution network.

Moving from plastic to FSC-certified paper ice cream cups, the 110ml serves are designed to maintain the same durability while having less impact on the environment.

As part of the partnership, the pair will also introduce its FSC-certified birchwood spoon, BioPak-designed spoon-in-lid solutions, which are intended to eliminate the need for individual plastic spoons.

“We’ve been big fans of Everest for a number of years, so when the opportunity arose for them to explore a more sustainable packaging solution for their ice cream, it felt like a natural fit,” said Andy Drewery at BioPak.

“As two customer-centric brands, we are truly aligned in values and committed to delivering quality without compromise,” said Drewery.

Last month, a senior Woolworths executive took the helm of BioPak.
