National Pharmacies has named London-born retail executive Alex Palin as its new chief customer officer.

Palin joins the organisation with 15 years of commercial leadership experience across Australia and the UK. Throughout his career, he has managed retail operations with combined annual revenues exceeding $100 billion.

He most recently held a position as GM merchandise at Viva Energy Australia, where he directed the commercial performance and multi-channel strategy for over 900 On The Run and Reddy Express locations.

Prior to that, he managed senior category operations for Coles Group in Melbourne and held the position of buying manager for the British multinational retailer Tesco.

“Palin joins us at a pivotal time, as expanding pharmacy practice transforms the customer experience to include preventative health and wellbeing services, and diagnosis and treatment of everyday illnesses, supporting longer, healthier lives,” said Mark Smith, National Pharmacies CEO.

Earlier, Independent Pharmacies tapped 7-Eleven executive for management role.
