Tim Tam collaborates with gelato maker Messina

timtamArnott’s Tim Tam and Gelato Messina have teamed up to launch new gelato-inspired flavours.

The new range includes Choc Mint; Salted Caramel & Vanilla; Coconut & Lychee and Black Forest.

In creating the new range, Tim Tam took the culinary team from Messina into the secret kitchens of its famed bakeries and taught the gelato chefs the art and science of Australia’s favourite biscuits.

“When Arnott’s approached us about creating gelato-inspired Tim Tam flavours, it was pretty exciting and quite a privilege,” said Declan Lee, co-founder of Gelato Messina. “It was a new challenge for us — making a gelato is one thing — and making a biscuit that tastes like that gelato is another.”

As part of the creative process, Messina spent hours at Tim Tam’s Western Sydney HQ, working with food technicians and tasting endless rounds of gelato, mapping out the sequence of the desired flavours to create the biscuit version of their signature scoops.

Key flavour profiles were then blended to create the four biscuits in the new range.

According to Lee, it was crucial to Messina that the biscuits stayed true to the gelato brand’s ethos of quality — being able to taste distinct flavours, made from the best ingredients.

“This new generation of Tim Tam is one of our most exciting and innovative yet. Gelato Messina is leading the way in the Aussie gelato movement, and we’re thrilled to pair their expertise with Australia’s most-loved chocolate biscuit,” Nicky Thomson, global communications manager of Arnott’s said.

“We were drawn to the guys from Messina because of their uncompromising commitment to flavours. We’re happy to say this shines through in the biscuits, which taste as good as they sound.”

The new Tim Tam Inspired by Gelato Messina range will be available at supermarkets and independent retailers in the biscuit aisle nationally from 6 February 2017. It will sell for RRP $3.65 each.
