Gillette Australia launches new razor for sensitive skin

Gillette Australia has launched a new razor for sensitive skin in major retailers this week, with AFL professional players Jack Steele, Sebastian Ross, Shaun Grigg and Devon Smith coming onboard to promote the product.

Gillette’s SkinGuard razor is designed to ensure hairs are trimmed at surface level to reduce tug and pull, protecting sensitive skin from irritation.

According to a YouGov survey by Gillette, 1.2 million Australian men are choosing to grow beards due to delicate skin, with 52 per cent of men reporting that they shave less often than they want to because of sensitive skin.

“Men often think skin sensitivity is a cause of genetics or something they simply have to put up with., More often than not, they treat the symptoms rather than addressing the cause, unaware that it’s often a direct result of shaving.” Dr. Liang Joo Leow, a dermatologist from Aesthetic Dermatology said.

“A multitude of conditions can also make skin sensitivity worse, specifically different ingredients in skincare products or fragrances, medications, pre-existing conditions, and putting too much pressure while shaving or doing too many strokes.”

Gillette’s research found some Australian men are reluctant to embrace a skincare routine. While 72 per cent say they experience sensitive skin, one in four (26 per cent) admit to not using facial cleanser or moisturiser as part of their skin care routine.

Gillette has also released Pure by Gillette, an aftershave with zero alcohol, dyes, parabens, and sulfates, designed to protect against irritation.

Gillette SkinGuard and Pure is available now at all major retailers nationally.
