Prebiotic soft drink Bobby rolls out in 7-Eleven stores nationwide

Beverage startup Bobby has rolled out its range of sparkling prebiotic drinks in 730 7-Eleven stores nationwide.

Launched in September last year, the startup said it is projected to move over 400,000 cans in its first year, with a retail sales value (RSV) of an estimated $1.5 million.

Founder Kristian Johannsen said he ventured out on his own to redefine soft drinks with thirst-quenching big flavours and the added benefit of prebiotics – to “invade taste buds and make for a happy gut”.

“I created Bobby out of a frustration of constantly trying new beverages sold on ‘functionality’ or ‘better-for-you’ only to be let down by the flavour,” explained Johannsen.

“Understanding the flavours consumers are still seeking daily, I strived to make a better-for-you soft drink that was functional without compromising on taste.”

Made in Melbourne, the fizzy drink contains “Sunfiber”, an all-natural prebiotic that claims to aid digestion and increase beneficial gut bacteria. In addition, it is low in sugar and has no preservatives or artificial flavours.

It comes in four flavours: Lemon, Berry, Orange, and Cola.

The startup has recently received its Carbon Neutral Certification via Climate Active and said it had worked closely with sustainable business consultants to build a sustainability strategy, which has been implemented as one of its major focuses.

“We aim to be carbon positive by 2025 and are eager to continue decreasing our carbon footprint,” Johannsen added.

Bobby is available in 7-Eleven stores nationally and selected independent grocers for RRP$4.
