In celebration of World Pride Day, Byron Bay Cookie Company has partnered with Qantas and Rainbow Families charity to bring back its colourful Pride cookie.
Rather than releasing it as a limited edition, the heart-shaped cookie blend of milk chocolate chunks topped with rainbow drops will now be part of the brand’s staple range of products.
“It was important to us to work with a charity that makes a real difference in the LGBTQ+ community,” said Emilie Emond, marketing manager at Byron Bay Cookie Company.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Rainbow Families with this colourful partnership.”
Beginning mid-February, the cookies will be available on board selected domestic Qantas flights ahead of this year’s Mardi Gras parade.
In addition, a donation of 10 cents will be made to Rainbow Families for every Pride cookie sold. The grassroots charity offers a voice and support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) kids and their parents.
“Although there is much to celebrate, there is still so much work to be done before all families are treated equally,” said Ashely Scott, executive officer at Rainbow Families. “Thanks to this generous donation we will be able to support even more LGBTQ+ parents and their families across Australia.”
The Pride Cookie will be handed out on Qantas domestic flights from mid-February and will be available in selected cafes and from cookie.com.au beginning February at an RRP of $4 per cookie or $42 for a box of 12.
