Roma Foods is expanding its footprint internationally by exporting its gluten-free Pasta Roma product across Southeast Asian markets.
Pasta Roma, currently stocked across Australia in Coles, Foodworks, IGA and Woolworths, is described as plant-based pasta with authentic taste and texture, made from local rice and corn, free of gluten, wheat, egg, nut, dairy, yeast and soy.
Roma Foods began exporting to Thailand through the Lotus supermarket chain in 2019, with backing from Austrade.
‘‘We recognised that Roma had a niche offering,” said Max Buontempo, Roma Foods’ MD.
“Exporting gave us the opportunity to grow our sales and reduce reliance on the Australian market alone. Our exporting journey has been strengthened by Austrade’s knowledge, presence and coordination of international opportunities.”
The brand also exports to Indonesia, where halal standards are required, and Vietnam with a marketing campaign featuring Australian-Vietnamese celebrity chef Luke Nguyen.
In addition to Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, the gluten-free pasta line is available in Malaysia and Singapore, with more expansion planned in other countries including India, China and the Middle East.
