The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has concluded its antitrust review of Mars’ pending acquisition of Kellanova without imposing any conditions or requiring remedies.

With 27 of 28 regulatory approvals secured, the deal now hinges on a final review by the European Commission.

“This represents a significant milestone on our path to combine Mars Snacking and Kellanova,” said Steve Cahillane, chairman, president and CEO of Kellanova

“We continue to believe this is an exciting opportunity to create a broader, global snacking business that is better positioned to meet evolving consumer needs and preferences.”

Last year, the snacking and food giant agreed to acquire Kellanova for US$36 billion, bringing iconic brands like Pringles, M&M’s and Snickers under one roof. Both companies expect the acquisition to close toward the end of this year.
