Asahi Beverages has implemented executive changes as part of its restructuring and will no longer have separate CEOs for its three businesses – ALB, Carlton and United Breweries (CUB), and Asahi Beverages NZ.
Nigel Parsons has been named its first CCO, effective April this year. In this newly created role, Parsons will oversee commercial and sales functions across the country and New Zealand for alcohol and non-alcohol categories. He will report to group CEO Amanda Sellers.
Parsons has been with Asahi since 2021 as CEO of Asahi Lifestyle Beverages (ALB), where he has expanded market share and secured major partnerships.
Sellers said consolidating commercial and sales functions will simplify the company’s multi-beverage business.
“Nigel has built exceptional relationships with our customers, leading to significant new deals and an expanded customer base,” Sellers said.
As a result of the re-organisation, CUB CEO Danny Celoni will leave the company by the end of June.
“Danny has played an important role in shaping our new structure,” Sellers added. “He is an incredibly respected industry leader, and we understand his decision to pursue new opportunities at the CEO level.”
Meanwhile, Andrew Campbell, CEO of Asahi Beverages NZ, will take on the new role of NZ country manager, reporting to Parsons.
Brian Phan’s role is expanding to chief growth officer, overseeing marketing, innovation, and portfolio management in Australia alongside his existing strategy and disruption responsibilities.
Asahi said there will be no changes to its beverages or manufacturing operations as part of this transition.
