Following a recent trademark battle win for Australia’s honey industry over using the term “Manuka”, honey brand Capilano has launched two new products: Capilano Active Manuka Honey MGO 100+ and Capilano Active Honey MGO 550+.
Compared to traditional honey, the Manuka variety contains the bioactive ingredient methylglyoxal (MGO), which is responsible for the honey’s antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. The higher the MGO, the more potent the honey’s bioactive properties.
The company describe its Active Manuka Honey MGO 100+ as having a rich, smooth caramel taste and is recommended for everyday use. While the Active Manuka Honey MGO 550+ is its most potent formulation, recommended for wound healing, skincare, and to soothe a sore, scratchy throat.
“We know how important supporting local beekeepers is to Aussie families, and we’re thrilled to have this opportunity to increase the availability of one of nature’s greatest superfoods – Manuka honey,” says Dr Ben McKee, COO at Capilano and chairman of the Australian Manuka Honey Association.
“With the launch of these two new all-Australian Capilano Manuka honey products, we are giving everyone even more reason to shop & support local.”
Capilano Active Manuka Honey MGO 100+ is available at Woolworths stores nationwide at 250g for an RRP of $11, while the Active Manuka Honey 550+ is available at 250g for an RRP of $50 exclusively available at Woolworths online.
