Meatball-flavoured Chupa Chups move from prank to reality

Ingka Group has partnered with Chupa Chups to introduce a meatball-inspired lollipop at Ikea stores worldwide this June, following an idea first introduced as an April Fools’ Day concept.

The idea, shared on April 1, attracted such strong consumer interest that the companies got together to develop it as a limited-edition product. One million lollipops will be produced and distributed at hundreds of Ikea locations worldwide.

Developed by Chupa Chups, the product is intended to reflect the flavour profile of Ikea’s Swedish meatballs and lingonberry pairing. It is positioned as an experiential extension of Ikea’s food offering, designed to enhance the in-store visit rather than serve as a retail product.

“Together with Chupa Chups, we are now bringing a playful take of that idea to life. It is a fun way to celebrate our love of food, and to show that even a simple joke can turn into something real, bringing people in surprising ways,” said Javier Quiñones, commercial manager at Ingka Group.

The lollipops will not be available for purchase and will instead be offered as free samples to customers in stores during June.
