Australian wine company Fourth Wave Wine has made significant strides in the UK market since the launch of three of its wine brands in major retailer Waitrose last year.
The recent success comes with the recently implemented Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement (A-UK FTA), which eliminates tariffs on wine and is expected to contribute to the growth of Australian wine in the UK market.
Brendan Edmonds, UK sales director for Fourth Wave Wine, said the tariff of A$1 for every six-pack of wine unlocks benefits for Aussie wine, UK retailers and consumers.
“The A-UK FTA couldn’t have come at a better time for the industry,” said Edmonds.
“Since our initial launch in the UK, Austrade has assisted us with market intelligence, access and introductions to other major customers, supporting the opportunity to further build our UK market presence.”
Fourth Wave Wine’s Australian portfolio includes brands such as Elephant in the Room, Little Giant, Farm Hand and Tread Softly.
Will Downey, senior business development manager at Austrade UK, added that Fourth Wave has a unique portfolio of brands that “inspire and engage” new and existing customers.
‘At Austrade, we’re excited to work with Fourth Wave Wine and introduce new brands such as Tread Softly, Wild Folk and Plus & Minus to like-minded consumer-led retailers in the UK,” he concluded.
Since its establishment in 2009, Forth Wave Wine now sells more than 12 million bottles of wine annually.
