Confectionery company Mars Wrigley has showcased its latest innovations at this year’s National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) Show in Las Vegas, which aims to fuel category growth and offer new options to consumers.
Among the new products: M&M’s Peanut Butter and Jelly, M&M’s Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich, Skittles Pop’d, Snickers Dark Ice Cream Bar, Snickers Pecan, and Snickers Shapes.
The new products target convenience store shoppers, which the company considers adventurous, and that variety is key to winning their wallets.
“We know that consumers see convenience stores as part of their communities and routines,” said Tim LeBel, president of sales at Mars Wrigley North America. “To reach core consumers and attract new audiences, we’re looking at new formats and textures with some of our iconic brands to drive trial and enthusiasm.”
According to data from the NACS, 93 per cent of Americans live within 10 minutes of a convenience store – and 71 per cent of adult consumers discover new products and brands at c-stores.
In addition to new snacks, Mars has dipped into fashion and teamed up with Kate Spade to launch a limited-edition collection of M&M’s candy-themed handbags and accessories.
“The M&M’S brand has long been committed to bringing people together through colourful fun,” said Jane Hwang, GM of Global M&M’s.
“Partnering with a brand like Kate Spade New York, known for joy and everyday celebrations, is the perfect complement this holiday season. We hope the special collection will surprise and delight our fans as they rock their favourite brands in an iconic new way.”
